Who is Tree Appeal?

Tree Appeal plants trees throughout the UK to promote biodiversity, create habitats and improve the environment for people.

Through Tree Appeal’s Trees for Schools initiative, many of these trees are planted in the grounds of schools, usually by the children themselves. This helps create woodland habitat, increases biodiversity and, most importantly, provides an excellent learning resource - planting the trees, watching them grow, seeing how wildlife is encouraged, charting the changing seasons and weather.

ECOTRUST is Uganda’s leading indigenous, not-for-profit conservation finance institution supporting natural resource management initiatives countrywide.

Their vision is to have a healthy environment with prosperous people.

Their mission is to conserve biological diversity and enhance social welfare by promoting innovative and sustainable environmental management.

Their goal is to provide long-term sustained funding for the conservation of biodiversity and environmental management in Uganda.

Who is Plan Vivo?

Plan Vivo is a System for developing community-based payments for ecosystem services (PES) projects and programmes, with an emphasis on building capacity, long-term carbon benefits, diversifying livelihoods and protecting biodiversity.

Plan Vivo puts people at the heart of the solution. Their mission is to empower communities to take control of their resources.

Plan Vivo projects are independently assessed and generate Plan Vivo Certificates, representing long-term carbon benefits (VERs), conservation of ecosystems and poverty reduction.

Plan Vivo is recommended by Carbon Trust in the UK as one of only four VER standards that meet valid criteria: verification, additionality, leakage, impermanence, and double counting.
